DAL gets 'all' the beny's (having ALA's feed) of a Merger in those regards w/o having to do what CAL/UAL have 'done' via a Merger to get it. Now that UniCal's Merger is well on it's way, Jeffery better beat feet and USE IT to compete in the profitable Asia structure.
I think what I was trying to get across is that they have no intention of trying to put out a superior product, take away market share and try and get their competitors to shrink. That is a shame.

How long is your bid open, when are results usually released and the first pilots in training?

Let me clue you in....From a pilots point of view, ALL those CRJ's NOW at Terminal 8 represent lost UAL MAINLINE jobs, over 1400 of them. This entire formula maybe 'out of sight-out of mind' as your sit in your MX Controller's Office. Believe me, if it can happen to your pilots, you too can have your job outsourced to the 'lowest' bidder even on your side of the lawn.

The problem with this is here and now....open your eyes and quit 'accepting it'.
************************************************** *****
Look!
I KNOW the CRJ's are a pain in the Butt!! But what are YOU going to do about it? Are YOU going to REALLY take Less to get rid of then?? REALLY?
Because by NOW you've GOT to KNOW it's going to COST you to return those jobs and gates back to UAL flying. Have you proposed a competitive pay scale to GET the flying back? I can understand your angst but you guys ARE talking about it aren't you? As a Burr under your sadle and as much "Diaper Rash" as you're displaying if you Haven't then WHY NOT? Cuz your LAST tactics didn't do you so well now did they? If the truth be told the company PARKED the 737's just to punch you guys in the MOUTH for all your Thug tactics! "Less fuel efficient" they said. Were they less fuel eficient or did you guys FLY them to BE less fuel efficient and make their case FOR them?? Did your guys bogus tactics to write up a bunch of bogus trim gripes cause the 737 Maintenence budget to skyrocket with constant test flights and Ferry flights to fix trim settings that weren't BROKEN or Misadjusted cause the Management to get rid of perfectly GOOD airplanes THUS setting 1400+ pilots on the street??
I mean you're CLAIMING the CRJ's are putting Good UAL pilots on the street and Dude? That is Purely BOGUS! You Don't REALLY want to get me started because I DO KNOW why they parked those airplanes. And I took a LOT of those BOGUS calls AS a 737 Controller. Why do you think we have almost 20 pilots attached to the OCC JUST to evaluate PILOT delays and WHY we have that stupid conference call to EVALUATE (While WE RECORD!) your reasons for Aircraft Refusals?? You're angry at the WRONG person Dude! Because of What you DO? I clock WELL over $100k/yr. And more than $15K/yr over the past 5 years have been DIRECTLY attributed to United Airlines Pilot Tactics. Now you can do what you want,, but ALL you CAL guys had Better Know this! UAL managment will do some HEINOUS stuff if you follow the past tactics of UAL ALPA because they Never pull this stuff on the international flights. They leave the "rabbble rousing" for the guys making the least on the smallest airplanes so they can get RID of them!! CAL still has 26 737-524's don't they??
How many pilots fly them? Go start jacking them around and watch them get PARKED and SOLD! With the related number of Pilot's put out on the STREET!
The time to solve your dospleasure is NOW in contract negotiations.
Those 70 SEAT CRJ's were "STUCK" to UAL ALPA during BANKRUPTCY IN THE 1113 HEARINGS, where they said either "TAKE THIS"? OR, we abrogate the ENTIRE ALPA contract or Liquidate!!
They did what they had to DO to "live to fight anothe day"!
I suggest you leave ALPA Leadership to get Rid of the CRJ's the SAME WAY they GOT them. In CONTRACT Negotiations!
You're looking at the guys who lost the MOST!
And lost their GIG's to BOOT To carry the water for your Next great "adventure"?? I'm not a Senior management supporter because of their "unmitigated" ruthlessness. But I can tell you THIS! You aren't DEALING with people who CARE whether you're happy. They don't CARE if you hate FLYING for United Airlines! If you can't get it DONE while at the negotiating table? It's your OWN fault!! And all the "Puffing and Blowing" THIS guy is doing?? Don't mean JACK!! Just like I said THOSE LAX Terminal 8 GATES BELONG to UNITED Who flies from them? That's SOLELY up to YOU and YOUR negotiating committee! Put your Guns on the table and start playing Poker! And quit Whining! It makes you look like Children!! Man UP!!

If you have made an extra $15k due to pilots asking to have their planes fixed, a simple thankyou should do.

Write the first sentence as a topic sentence. This is the part of the paragraph that introduces what the paragraph will be discussing. Make sure to indent the first word of this sentence to follow proper paragraph format. This sentence should be pretty broad. Do not include supporting statements as they should be reserved for the body of the paragraph.

Your next three sentences should be details or points about the topic sentence. These are known as the body of the paragraph. They should all be relevant to the topic sentence. In other words, if your topic sentence is about the diet of rabbits, your detail sentences should not branch off on other subjects like highway construction.

Lastly, finish off your paragraph with a sentence to summarize what your paragraph was about. This is called the conclusion sentence. This is also the area where you transition to the topic of your next paragraph.

CLE is most likely on the chopping block in the next two-three years. From what I have heard, Smisek wasn't so gung-ho on the DEN operation when he was speaking to employees there either. From what I understand, DEN-LHR is being suspended soon and maybe shifted to IAD. That doesn't sound like a move showing confidence in DEN.
DEN-LHR is done. Not sure if we will add more LHR service from another hub though.

Also announced today is LAX-GDL service on 737-800. So another reason to have an LAX 737 base.

Due to travel issues and the DH to LHR. IRO's will work and no longer DH on these flights. This will result in a need for increased staffing of the 756 base and 777 base in EWR and IAH. As DH was not counted towards line value in duty time.

This was announced this afternoon by the EWR CPO.

This along with other issues is delaying the new bid. LAX base info was shown on our standing base bid page for about 3 days then taken off. It seems things are still fluid...

Bids during negotiations are usually held up by the company to try and gather as much leverage as possible. Heaven forbid they try to staff the airline.

Too bad. That flight was always over-sold. I guess we couldn't make money with it?

Interesting because the only thing I see in the form of "announcement" about this issue was on the flight ops website (below). Maybe they "fixed" the issue but forgot to announce it to everyone.

LHR-DEADHEADING IRO
As you may or may not know the Customs and Immigration officials in LHR have started enforcing the policy that prohibits everyone who is not an active crewmember from riding on the rampside bus to the hotel. This means that any deadheading crewmembers will need to clear customs and immigrations and then meet the bus on the outside of the terminal. This is not a situation that we are happy about. We are close to coming up with a solution to fix this problem and I am hoping that we will have it out in the next day or two. These things are not as simple as it may seem on the surface to deal with. In the mean time, if you are deadheading to LHR, please check with the station personnel on your arrival and see how they are dealing with it that day. The different temporary fixes are not pleasant and they tend to change. Please bear with us for a few more days when I believe we will have a very good and permanent solution to the problem.
