Default Magenta Line - Newark Picketing

Today is Monday, November 22, 2010, and there is one item for today.

Item 1 – Newark Informational Picketing

More than 350 Continental pilots attended today’s informational picketing event in Newark. What seemed like a never-ending sea of black and gold marched through terminal C en route to picket locations at terminals “C” and “A.”

Your Newark LEC Officers were amazed at the outstanding turnout, especially given the short notice of the event and considering that today’s demonstration was announced well after November bid closed. To the pilots who took the time to sacrifice a day off, come to work early, or stay late, and especially to those who commuted long distances just to attend, we extend a heartfelt “thank you” from your LEC Officers.

The Newark LEC Officers would also like to thank our many union brothers and sisters from the following airlines for their attendance in today’s unity demonstration:

· United
· American
· ExpressJet
· CommutAir
· Colgan

We would like to add a special “thank you” to SPSC Chairman Captain Marty Miller and the countless SPSC volunteers for executing a flawless professional unity demonstration. To those that couldn’t attend, have no worries because your MEC has approved an aggressive SPSC event timeline for 2011. You will have ample more opportunities to help your union send our message to the new United Airlines management, Wall Street, the media and the general public.

Our message to Mr. Smisek: Your actions have infuriated and galvanized this pilot group to a level of solidarity never seen before. We will be successful in negotiating an industry leading JCBA that includes an industry redefining Scope/Outsourcing Section.

Take a look below to see what happens when pilots stand shoulder-to-shoulder demonstrating our unflinching resolve.

That is all for today. Please remember our 134 furloughed brothers and sisters and their families.

Fraternally,

Chairman Captain Jayson Baron

I find it interesting that The Magenta Line makes it onto Airline Pilot Central before it makes it into my mailbox.

Some can't wait to disperse info before the "intended" parties have read it. Always been that way................. too bad the photos didn't download. They give a good picture of UNITY for a change!
