That comment doesn't bode well for CAL as stand alone carrier does it?

I can see it now: SWA buys UAL, and the 747-400 pilots are SCRAMBLING to get the B737 pay...........

Actually, we were doing quite well as a stand alone carrier, thank you. FWIW, to the contrary, UAL didn't come in and save us. Would you have rather ended up with USAirways? THEN you could really be on here screaming about how your payrates need improving.

Yeah, like that will really fly. You've got over 1400 on the street with NO career expectations until they get back on property, meanwhile ALL of our guys have been recalled and some start training next week. DOH? In your dreams................. How about we just keep the pilots/airplanes separate, and you guys can negotiate your pay and we'll negotiate ours? We'll see who's bringing more to the table, and believe me, I don't think it was pre-merger UAL. More pilots maybe, but that's about it. Ever wonder why all the UAL folks seem so happy about this marriage and the CAL folks don't?

Never said you needed saving. Was referring to Smisek as a narrow body CEO comment. Which is somewhat correct since CAL is more of a narrow body carrier than UAL.

Since you bring it up, there have been articles written that CAL was sucking a little wind recently.

I would have rather ended up with neither you or USAir.

Interesting. Did you have a premonition Fritz or are you just comfortable with the we're better than you rhetoric?

That's interesting since we've been taking delivery of NEW planes every other week, our F/A's and mechanics appear to be getting new contracts, and ours is getting close. Our profits this past quarter weren't too shabby (made more per share than anyone else for that matter), and we're seeing expansion, along of course with adding new routes and winning awards. Is that the wind you're talking about?

Ditto on the last comment.

All...I think you might be stretching there. I for one am(was) not in favor of this merger. As a UAL shareholder I voted against it(but I guess my 50 shares couldn't sway the outcome). Now that the ink has dried and it is official I(we) need to make the best of it. Let the JNC do their J.O.B.
BTW, is there a way this merger could be undone? I don't think so.
