The free stuff (domestic coach) is not edible, so hopefully the pay stuff will be.

I remember when Song had BOB and it was pretty decent and not too pricey.
I agree the dom.coach food was basically a down sized version of a tv dinner

If you look at the BOB food announcement from CAL back in the spring it says free food will still be offered in coach on domestic flights over 6 hours. Now it says that free food will be available on domestic flights over 6 1/2 hours.
There were very, very few exceptions before, but CAL closed the loop on that one for those winter westcoast cities out of EWR.
From what I understand, on flights with BOB meals, catering will put crew meals on board so that we aren't "comped" something that a passenger would purchase---even though catering will throw it away after it is inventoried upon arrival.

I can't help but feel the potential "erosion of service" that the merger might bring has started.
Honestly, the "free" meal is a reason, among others, CO is one of my preferred choices. Sure, it's a little bare bones, but the meals haven't been bad.

No more dreaded breaded chicken sandwich or turkey footballs. I don't fly hungry so if we leave late while I get something to eat with some redeeming health value to it, not my problem. Otherwise, Jeffy boy, you can spring for a meal for me to eat.
