It was done as strategery to re-assure Continental customers that United (and their poor customer service reputation) is not taking over.

We'll probably see an all new livery in a few years.

I agree. I think this combo livery is just a stop-gap while everything is sorted out. I think in a few years we'll have a "new united" paint job.

Agree.

My choice would have been United Blue with a globe logo. Pan Am-style... let's call that Monkey's Great Idea #1. I know everyone is waiting to hear all my other great ideas on how to run this airline, so, stay tuned!

or because it only takes painting a "UNITED" patch on the side of the existing CAL fleet. Genius if you ask me. Why reinvent the wheel, save some money on paint and loss of use!!

In addition, CAL's fleet is already painted. We still have too many of Wolfe's battleship greys and new paint jobs that are chipping like an Earl Schieb $399 special.

Well, I kind of have to disagree with that statement. Our dispatchers/ schedulers/ops personnel have been told they have two options: move to Chicago or find another job (99% of our downtown ops is going to Chicago) and over 2000 of our loyal employees are expected to be let go from the IAH area due to the loss of our headquarters to ORD. We're losing our name (our identity) which has been such a great thing to have. We're losing our training center (supposed to be in DEN according to what a few of our instructors are putting out). The ticker symbol is again UAL. Our uniforms are supposedly in remake too. So, all in all, about the only thing UAL is losing is their paintjob. Merger of equals?

I'm not saying I'm sad that our management is out the door, but your management is running the show now. Over time I think we will see a lot of what was United evaporate. I have personally seen it before at another carrier.

It thought it was a mixture of management. I read the positions and who was being assigned to them. Just because the CEO is CAL, doesn't mean anything. Besides, he's more like your CEO anyway.

Sure, he might be a little Glenn in training, but the senior leadership is mostly CAL. We all could go down the laundry list of who lost what, the logo, name, paint scheme, we are all getting a new uniform, but we need to look at what is really important. We all need a new contract (the f/o's on the UAL side are drowning, and i'm sure a lot of yours aren't fairing much better). We all need to drop the us vs them mentality. Whenever the SLI occurs, we all need to work together as if we have been one airline for decades.

I actually enjoy the employees I work with at United. Under this current contract, if I couldn't come to work, laugh, find a good beer, and have a good time, I would be miserable. That needs to continue into the future for all of us.
