“Continental XXX in United livery…”

I agree generally with the kumbaya, since there is nothing we can do about it and none of this is our fault. I took you questioning why a CAL pilot would not be happy about identifying himself as "United", after years of being "Continental" as a bit odd...possibly even showing an arrogance. Since apparently that was not your implication then I apologize.
Kumbaya is somewhat idealistic. I'm more or less on a handshake and grab a beer train of thought. This will take years to sort through and people to accept.

Sticker, eh? Mach .82 for a few days will take care of that!

In a nutshell, I prefer the United call sign, and naturally, CAL pilots would prefer Continental. To say it would make me "throw up" is somewhat a slap in the face. Life moves on.

Oct 1 will start the date that the two airlines can legally share all information with each other and formulate plans to optimize the routing of each fleet.
Probably will see CAL aircraft on UAL routes and vice-versa not too long after. (1Q 2011?)

Have no source to back this, but it would not surprise me if there's 'an aircraft' sitting in a paint shop (Amarillo maybe??) as we speak that will be rolled out in the new UAL sceme for all to see come October 1st.....

SAD that they are moving along without giving us a contract. IMO no way we have a contract in a week.
Mediation here we come.

Heard that first flight will be ORD-IAH in a New Paint 737-800 with all of the big execs. onboard. I wonder if they will stop by the cockpit and say hello. And if they do hope the pilots flying tell them how dissapointed we are not to have a contract before closing this deal. Bet you have yours and why not ours.

But one small item your forgetting to mention about the Flt Deck crew.....It will most likely be Mgt Pilots crewing that flt ready to stroke those Exec's egos as they board!
Can you honestly ask yourself, did you really think we were going to get a TA prior/or on-time to their first week in October timeline?? Albeit the Neg Comm updates are spares at best (to be expected to some degree), but in what they have told us (at least on the CAL side), I am by NO MEANS shocked that this deal went forward, IE "pomp-n-circumstance" on October 1 w/ no sign of a TA/JCBA in sight for the new combine Pilot Group.
I guess "Good things are worth waiting for"
