Yes. Until that is changed in the next contract. Does UAL use CA's or FO's as IRO's?

Yes. Now the fun will be how many over 60ers bid it. Rumor is it is starting to wreak havoc on the 777 scheduling since you can't have two over 60ers on the same crew.

UAL uses FO's as IRO's. We will see if that changes in the JCBA.

"Rumor" also has it they are going to raise the retirement age to 67 and not allow any two crew members over 65 to crew the same aircraft.

They can stand by for a revolt if that happens.

I don't buy it.

65 gets pilots to Medicare, what is the the rationale for 67?

I think he was just kidding. Also, my post was not meant to slam the over 60 guys. I have simply heard that the new rules force the company to scramble a bit at times. I am all for anything that makes the company sweat so long as it doesn't screw a pilot.

Any thoughts as to why there aren't additional openings reflected across the 737 BES when there are something like 12 more airframes being delivered during this bid's timeframe? They sure try hard to make these bids look flat...

I would guess it has something to do with the COLAs ending and those pilots being taken into account.
