Agreed. Only problem is I see them dragging this thing on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on. You get the idea.
So when do we change/modify/force that priority?

That is how it works.
Hopefully, the MEC's will not deviate. Yes, both are important topics but the JCBA should be hammered out first IMO. Then the SLI. This chain of events as laid out in new ALPA merger policy is a smart move.
Having said that, until the pressure of new UA mgmt's timeline pressures them, I wouldn't expect much movement towards either a TA or SLI.
My two centavos,

Where'd you come up with that? 90% of the guys I talk to DON'T get what they bid for.............far from it. I've know lineholders to just bid "work" and go into denial mode 4. PBS is a piece of crap (I'm sugar coating it). The "life" we were supposed to get from it was lost the day we got it. The amount of $$$ we saved the company was lost in bonuses to a lucky few at the top. Glad THEIR lives are better at MY expense.

PBS sucks for the 737 guys for sure,
but having said that its not a total p.o.s.
I forgot to bid for NOV, still got 15 days off, with 70 hours of flying
and 89 hours of pay. I do have to work Thanksgiving for the 1st time in
5 years.
Not saying "I'm on board, pull up the ladder" because I do agree that it
has issues, but it does allow for some flexibility of schedules etc.
(It also eliminated open time, and was a huge free financial boon to the company)

"Under UAL work rules all pilots at both airlines will be recalled to work at the merged United-Continental. Under CAL work rules and additional 1,000 pilots will be furloughed.
Your choice?"
So when you negotiated those Cadillac work rules that we should all envy, was that also when you signed that great scope agreement that sent 50 some per-cent of the flying to express and put 1500 mainline guys on the street ?
I have friends on furlough hauling bricks at Go-Jets who would be happy to trade for CAL work rules and scope

Well, the whole Cadillac versus VW analogy was just a tad arrogant and insulting.
I've spoken with several guys on the 320 who were working 90 hard hours with 12 days off and no possibility for trip trades.
Granted speaking with a few guys and looking at their schedules is hardly a representative cross-section...
Lets all remember to stay focused on SCOPE, work rules are irrelevant to a lot of us without it...

What's even sadder, is that management can negotiate THEIR bonuses, incredible pay packages, benefits, etc., in RECORD time, but giving the employees ANYTHING is not important at all. When you have criminals getting three meals a day, a roof over their head, not having to worry about heating or cooling bills, free medical care, etc., and then can't afford to give medical insurance to a WORKING pilot for six months, a paycheck of more than $2100 a MONTH for the first year, but have no problem doling out $10,000,000 bonuses to people who CARE LESS about the little guys, something is definitely wrong. I too keep wondering why ALPA is never in a hurry to negotiate anything for us, and then when they finally do, it looks like swiss cheese................and they wonder why we're so unhappy...........
