Thats one good thing about this place, there is both trash and treasure to pick from depending on what one values. On the NB the red eyes depend greatly on where you're based. LAX, LAS, and SFO have more than DEN, IAH, or ORD. All depends on seniority too. When I was 70% (IAH) I could tell PBS to avoid duty 0100-0300 and wipe out the worst of them. Now I tell it to avoid duty 2300-0600, 2 legs max, etc. The 737 is WAY more work than the 777 was, but I don't finish a trip exhausted and spend the next 3 days trying to recover. I've decided that I'm just not wired for anything on the back side of the clock. The 737 is definitely not the queen of the fleet, but I haven't been up past midnight in a couple of years, I lost all of my widebody excess weight, exercise regularly, and feel normal. It's not glamorous and I can't wait to retire, but for me it is the healthy choice.

Same here. I'm tired on the WB at times, but it's a different type of tired. Sort of like acute on the WB and chronic on the NB. The delays, multiple legs, wx, maintenance, multiple nights in hotels, etc is just a drag after a while. The big caveat as always is sleeping on the plane, which I do quite well. If you can sleep on the plane, there are a lot less variables to manage. One over, one back, done...

I went from NB to WB 777 and this is spot on. I was worried about back side of the clock international flying because I don’t sleep well in a seat on planes, even lay flat. However I sleep much better in a 300 bunk. It helps too that on reserve you are only flying once or twice a month (and some people I know maybe once in 2-3 months) so no matter how jet lagged you get it’s easier than the chronic NB west coast flying fatigue.
