That was a choice we made.

Blame them? We prioritized reserve QOL improvements and increased pay provisions for lineholder reassignments and added "overtime". I'm fine with that and I'm not, and will never intentionally be, on reserve.

I think some forgot that we're an airline and we need to cover flights and have some level of reliability to our schedule. SC, FSB, Reassignments. Those are the choices, we choose to increase and maintain protections for reserves so that leaves reassignments.

When I've been reassigned, I almost always either make more money or get home earlier. Many times, both.

RE: short layovers. I'm on the 737 and bid for commutability. That results in a lot of shorter layovers as I'm bidding to start late on Day 1 and release early on the last day. The trade-off is shorter layovers. If I prioritized longer layovers I could get them at the expense of commutability. Junior pilots don't get as much of a choice.

Re:short layovers

Well that is more of a self induced problem due to bidding behavior/desires then the bid package all being min rest layovers and am/pm flips. In fact min rest (which would be the FAR of 10 hours) is not built because of the operational reliability issues being at the min causes. Even under 12 hours rest is rare though.

Facts are hard for some people, mindless ranting is easier.

It is good to have the options of late starts etc for commutability... WB junior life has been great, not a commuter tho...

In Unity...

It's not a problem. It's a feature. That's why I bid them.

Correct. Its the choice one makes based on priorities.

If only everything was commutable with long layovers and no anf, you got a tray table to eat off of, and trips paid double what it does currently with out PPU then this would be the perfect job.
