New reserve rules
#41
All I really want as a commuter to reserve is:
* min off days between work blocks: 3
* max work block length: 4
* last day release before 2031 LBT (so I can catch the 2200 IAH-SFO on us)

Ahhh. Gotcha. That makes sense. Going to give both BidNsv and ProBid+ the same wishes and see if they return similar suggestions.

Never mind, I'm an idiot lol. The last one is in the line bid I'm going to throw in there, just in case reserve goes senior...

Great question .......I've only seen any reference to it in the ARGUP that 31 page document the Sched committee sent out. Otherwise help videos I don't think have been updated.

From page 25 of the ARGUP: "All specialized line types are optional in PBS with Traditional Reserve being the default bid option. If a Pilot preferencing Reserve does not bid for a specialized reserve line within a bid group, does not have the seniority to hold the Reserve line type that was preferenced, or bid groups containing a specialized reserve type fail, a Traditional Reserve (TRV) Line will be awarded with the other commands (‘AWARD’, ‘AVOID’, ‘MUST AWARD’, etc.) from that bid group honored, if possible."
To me, that reads that the set commands for the new bid groups wont necesarrily fail if it can still award you traditional reserve with the restrictions. Does that sound right to anyone else? Not sure if I should put separate bid groups in without the set command.

If the Set command for the Reserve Type can’t be honored the bid group will fail, same as with any other Set command. Best to back up your bid groups if you’re also wanting to bid specific days off along with one of the new reserve types.
FWIW, the general consensus among the PBS folks is that the special reserve types will probably go pretty senior, so don’t waste too much personal bandwidth (or too many bid groups) on bidding for them if you’re at the bottom of your category.
