If he's not wearing a uniform...look for his ID around the neck of the knock-off Polo shirt and eight crew tags on his luggage.

Almost like an QRC needs to be written for some of these folks….

FYI, sometimes a "slam, click" might just mean that they don't want to join your group at a Irish/British pub full of other pilots on the layover. They may be doing something more interesting to them like exploring a local neighborhood outside of the typical tourist spot. Speaking from experience as someone that likely will pass when the rest of the crew suggests the pub downstairs on an international layover.

Rule #1 on a layover is never go to an Irish Pub, unless you are in Dublin. And if you are in Dublin, only go to one 50% of the layovers. I am sad that people think that going to a Irish pub is fun.

Going to a bar with a bunch of pilots talking shop sounds like a horrible layover. I've definitely turned into a slam clicker over the years. After decades of the same trips over and over again, I just don't care anymore. If the hotel has a fairly nice gym and a restaurant that serves healthy food, I'll just see you tomorrow at the van.

Don't forget to wear your Boeing hat to the irish Pub.

Yelp "dive bar". Hasn't dissapointed me yet. The only pilot I have seen on a layover is the one I invited.

Be thankful you UAL pilots actually stay at a place like the Sheraton NYC. You could be at AA, where our hotel language is maybe a paragraph or two. Translation: some of the hotels we stay at would make you all suddenly start tipping us out of sympathy. It's that bad. The Sheraton NYC would be a considerable upgrade for us...
