NEWS FLASH the Airport Marriott would have been a 5 min ride BUT we use BLOCK TIME!
You're entitled to your opinion, and that's fine. And mine is 180 degrees from that: I'll take the DT layover every time and enjoy a couple hours out on the town vs being stuck at an airport hotel with their menu and lack of places to walk. You're welcome to not leave the hotel if you like.

PS you can walk to the EWR Airport Marriott in 5.

I'm so glad I had time for a show, Captial Grill and even a bar to 3am I did not sleep and reported fit for duty! YAY DT NYC layovers
Call CS and ask to change the hotel? Enjoy your airport hotel food and the extra sack time...dont see the issue here...

crew desk has blocked rooms at the Marriott Newark on a daily basis… primarily for irregular ops. If the weather is forecast to be good, and you call them day prior, they normally will move you… but true, it’s not guaranteed.

I agree that it should be release/debrief to report/brief time. That hour can make a difference and most likely would only affect a small number of cities we fly to domestically. I don't feel that 14 hours release to report is that much to ask. I'm not for a radical change to what the FAs have for needing a CBD layover.

I did fly with a captain once who told me, "ALPA ****es me off. They insist on putting us far away from the airport when all I want to do is eat, sleep and take a c**p. I don't care about all this 'oooh, look I can go to a museum or ballet or shop for nice clothes.' I don't give a **** about all that. Just give me a short ride to an airport hotel, give me my key so I can go sleep!" No wonder his trips were often in open time.

Maybe his cell phone holster was too tight.

Feel for this guy Hope he never upgraded to WB Capt. He would have felt uncomfortable when 2 other guys suggested meeting downstairs in 15 before heading to an Irish Pub with a good burger in Roppongi...

Work pants and New Balances are perfect when there are drink specials to be had.

That along with the head nod are the only ways to identify crew members. I’ve had a guy walk up to us and ask if we are ready to go out…he wasn’t even on our crew ha
