Stuck laptop = divert immediately

i once heard a test that was done to find out how much extra weight was being carried around based on trash and dirt under the floors. They throughly cleaned the aircraft during a D check and then re weighed it. The number had a 7 in it…..70 lbs seems to low but 700 seems to high….either way it’s a lot.
side note….had to have MX fish a cell phone out from under the floor boards on a 787. Same as this aircraft they had to remove panels in the cargo hold to get to it.

Once upon a time I flew ACMI on the other side of the big blue sea. In the place I operated most, we would go by our customers dispatch desk, check in and get a big envelope with the flight plans and notams for the day. For every leg we would get weather, W/B, fuel slips aso. When you were done for the day, you would put all this in a bigger envelope, and put it in the forward locker, just aft of the cockpit, where it would be retrieved in due time to be kept by the records department for the required amount of time. One day I opened said locker, and found 4 stacks of letter sized envelopes, stacked 7 feet high. About 500Lbs, in a 50K Lbs MTOW plane, that needed 1200Lbs of ballast in the back when we flew empty, which happened reasonably often. Apparantely this aircraft had been scheduled to drop this of for a while, but had flown around like this for quite a few days.
