It was a recent United new hire complaining to the government about a Southwest crew. I’d say it’s safe to assume it was probably a pronoun violation. 😂

Note: Denying jumpseats in retaliation is insane.

I fly for SWA and anyone not on "the list" is welcome in my JS or any seat on the airplane. I probably average 1-2 United guys a trip due to where I am based. All comers are welcome. Let's educate the offender and move on.
And yeah, solving issues between pilots should start face to face and escalate from there. Going to the cops isn't a good look.
Huge thank you for your level headed outlook. I'm going to have to factor in the possibility of being denied the JS on my commute for a while due to the misguided actions of a single outlier. Every time I ask for SWA JS access I'm going to apologize upfront before admitting who I work for.

The irony is I'd expect the SWA crew to be just fine, as I'd bet the CVR and FDR were already overwritten by the time the FAA types could even finish their coffee. On the other hand, it is now probably dawning on the JSer in question that she is now sitting in a hot seat far less comfortable than the second Guppy jumpseat. She needs to seriously consider moving to base or finding employment with another carrier, as her commute options will severely constricted.

Not sure how true it is, buts it’s circulating that the “violation” that happened was they were being vectored and told to slow to 210. FO pulls the spoilers and looks away for a second and before he knows it, the speed is below the UP bug. CA called for Flaps 5, they got them out and the rest was uneventful.

Ratting out a fellow crew, although at another airline, for an honest mistake that was quickly corrected, is messed up.

No remorse to the jumpseater when her name inevitably gets out and she is always getting turned down on Southwest, Delta and American alike.

Going to the feds is the wrong way to deal with anything shy of intentional recklessness. Starting a jumpseat war is the wrong way to deal with a problematic jumpseater. There are channels for communication between labor groups. If you don’t know the correct channel for your concern, call your rep before you call anyone else.

Who knows what's actually true, but if that is indeed what happened, then I have absolutely no words. Not in a million years would 'reporting' the crew, let alone to the FAA, occur to me.

Shaking my head...

I would never deny anyone rest assure and our union president will make sure nobody does. As for her not sure.
she may become a millionaire after she sues UAL and FAA for leaking her name and pic.

This.
It can be done...but will it be done. No one wins a JS war.

If that’s really what happened, it absolutely blows my mind she called the FAA. Had something very similar happen to me jumpseating home on an RJ. Captain got distracted/busy, FO (on OE) got slow. I said “watch your airspeed,” they fixed it, and 2 minutes later I had pretty much forgotten about it. The idea to call the FAA (or anyone for that matter) about something like that seems so ridiculous to me that I have to believe there’s more to this particular case. If there isn’t, then I don’t know what to say. It was nothing more than a simple error that got trapped, and still had at least a couple more levels of redundancy to go before they fell out of the sky.
