Would you say that to their face. It's easy to talk **** about people on the internet, but would you have the nuts to even say that to their face?
Grow up. Based on your comments you may be without a job soon too

Fact is, this person violated the code. Ignorance is no excuse. The how and why is irrelevant. You keep names, dates, flight numbers, anything identifiable, out of your mouth. There is NEVER a reason to go straight to the FAA. Even in a crash/ incident, you use the orange card. Even if you’re anti-union, every company’s FOM dictates that you leave the official statements to the company. That’s one thing the union and the company have always agreed on: keep your mouth SHUT.
Even when gossiping, almost EVERY pilot leads off with, and sticks to, something to the effect of “not going to name names…” because they KNOW that is a GUARANTEED way to be next. You want to run your mouth, telling war stories and harrowing events, fine, but you better do it right. Or else.
She is about to suffer the “else” for the rest of her aviation career. If she stays in it.
-Jumpseat will not be a reliable option for her anymore. Buy tickets, nonrev, or move to base.
-She will face the possibility of other pilots “knowing her story” and treating her accordingly.
The fact she came straight from skywest absolutely fits. Their pilots have a well known reputation of displaying superiority that they simply do not have and is based on relatively nothing. That company pumps that bull sht into their head and a considerable number of them go for it. Again, not all of them, but enough to where it cannot be ignored. Highlights why you also must have strong sa regarding who you’re flying with. There’s a good reason the most common first question is “where’d you come from”.
Usually this is helped by having 121 experience other than skywest or finally running into the proverbial “wrong one”. She clearly had neither.
She is marked for the rest of her life in aviation. She will have to either endure the suck or choose a new career.

Here is the TLDR summary: I have no real information and am going to ignore any conflicting information but I'm going to personally try to ruin her life based on Internet rumors.

Cat's out of the bag, they need to fill this void with facts. That's the only way to mitigate this. Silence from them is the worst possible strategy.

And this is the problem, and why SWAPA/UAL MEC should make a statement with the facts about this event. Now all we have is void, and that void is always filled with hearsay and rumors.

Fully agreed, can anyone ask them if they are preparing a statement about this? It needs to come out sooner rather than later, or this will just keep getting worse

Someone at SWA (CA of that flight perhaps?) purposefully leaked the JS'rs information from CAS to public discussion forums (confidential information), mobilized an enormous angry mob to go after her (incitement) with the clear intention to ruin her career and reputation (defamation). Reports say that the SWA CA went ballistic after he heard that there was an FAA IR.

wow, this guy…really??
UA guys are welcome in my jumpseat any day. I have not heard any swa pilots suggesting to deny UA pilots. I think we are just so confused and concerned.

The whole point of institutions like Pro-Standards is to handle things that can be resolved discretely without elevating or escalating them. If your response to their conclusion is “now tell 17,000 of us exactly what happened so we can individually determine whether the resolution meets our personal satisfaction”, why have the resolution process at all? Why not skip the middle man & go straight to mob rule?
Maybe the unions are both coordinating a massive cover-up to keep us all in placated submission. Or maybe- just maybe- they’ve resolved the issue to their mutual satisfaction, & as is so often the case, we all would have been better off if the keyboard warrior who decided he needed to get his version of the story out there had just taken his concerns to the union & let the process play.

We have one side defending this person based off zero facts and another side ready to take her license without any facts. If they would just release a statement with the details it would probably shut the entire topic down.
In no way shape or form do I support her being harassed or public information being released. Also everyone I have flown with have no issues with UA jumpseats up front no fear there at least at WN.

From somewhere on the internet:
Ben,
While I appreciate your attempt to amend and correct this story, why even post it in the first place. To get more clicks? I noticed all the pop up ads on here. How much are you getting paid to spread all of this mis and disinformation that you did zero research on, beyond a cut and paste hack job? It is WIDLY full of inaccuracies and you are now subjecting your blog to slander and libel because you attempt to do some form of journalism but have no way of getting the other side of the story.
I have intimate knowledge of this case. I can assure you:
1. She is NOT a new hire and NOT new to commercial aviation at all.
2. She DID NOT call the FAA. She has proof of that; perhaps she’ll get a chance to tell her side of the story one day and share that but she doesn’t owe that to anybody.
3. There is no jumpstart denials that have occurred at either airline as a result of this. Both airlines knew about the FAA report weeks before she did. They just couldn’t reach out because her name wasn’t known to UA and the SWA side didn’t want be involved in a retaliatory suit. In fact, not one UAL pilot has been denied the jump seat over this or any other event recently. If the pilot is qualified and presents the correct credentials, is polite, they will continue to be accepted onto all SWA jump seats, and versa.
You are part of a social media cabal, a machine, that played a role in absolutely destroying this woman’s life over the past week. She’s been eviscerated, vilified, had her photo, her email, personal data and even home address spread all over the world. She’s faced verbal and physical threats, and been called the most vile names in the English language.
Every pilot involved in this modern day digital lynching should hold their head in shame. You know who you are. You violated the ALPA Code of Ethics and then you sit on your high horse and lecture the reader about ethics? As a male aviator with over 30 years experience, a father to a daughter, a husband, and a son who still supports his mother and assists his disabled sister, I am outraged to see the level of vitriol and hate over something everyone who bothered to opine “heard/ read” on the internet and a majority of it coming from men.
Remember Nick Sandman and how he won $275M from CNN? Has social media not learned anything from that? Take this article down. It’s a joke, it’s offensive in its inaccuracies, and you are profiting from it. You’re exposing your illustrious blog to litigation as well now.
