That is the union functioning to protect us. Lying about what did or didn’t happen does nothing to further that message & I’d argue only undermines it when the lie is exposed. Doesn’t mean they’re not lying per se, just that it makes no logical sense for them to do so.

And cute that you feel UAL pilots who just canned practically their entire representation need a lesson on the corruptibility of unions. We know what a bad union looks like & this isn’t it.

The problem is as much as we complain about the social media generation, look how many grown @$$ men are already out there “solving” a problem whose veracity they haven’t even confirmed beyond an anonymous internet posting.want to be privy to more of this stuff? Volunteer with the union & find out how problems actually get solved. Or dox some kid off a rumor on a b!+ch board & clear a seniority space for the rest of us, I guess.
lol, settle down there Francis. Nobody is getting canned or sued. All this talk is hilarious. What's worse than a political discussion on message boards? Discussions about the law where everybody thinks they are a Lawyer. For the record I still have no idea what this broad’s name is so it can’t be out there that much. Also, newsflash, pilot’s names and addresses are publically available for all to see so it is hard to dox someone who is already public record.

Yes. Yes they would. And initiate enforcement action too.
Weirdest investigation I heard of was a passenger called the FAA and said the plane departed with only one pilot on the flight deck. Full blown investigation with interviews with the flight crew and FA (might have also pulled ATC tapes and talked to push crew and gate agents).

Right. It's almost like the vast majority of pilots hired at major airlines have worked hard and earned their positions, including everyone hired in the last 2 years.

I also assume there's more to the story.
There's gotta be way more to the story. I just don't see an airline pilot making this call because of obvious reasons - an error occurred, she chimed in as she observed it (don't we all tell our jumpseaters to tell us if they see us screwing something up?), the crew addressed it, end of story.

I do see maybe some embellishment when talking to her Karen husband who then takes it to the next level.

Absolutely! That's why the line exists.

“Well what happened was, my FO texted and said he was still in line at Starbucks, and my new girlfriend at the destination layover that I met last month at a toplexx bar was getting impatient and told me to hurry up.”

I think everyone here would gladly say it to her face that she screwed up.

she undermined all the work our unions have done over the decades to create a process for pilot errors to go through, penalty free and to create a safe space for people to admit their errors and learn from it. She jeopardized 2 pilot careers having the FAA investigate vs going through the union/company. She made her bed, she can lay in it.

if you agree with her actions, go talk to your union reps about it and see what they say

Don't be drama. No one's career is jeopardized based on an anonymous tip, especially if it's as much of a non issue as that. Pilots at other airlines have flown go-arounds at 200 agl for 3 miles before realizing it or even negligently taxied into the tug that pushed them back and almost the tug crew without any career impact.

And you should absolutely approach that individual in the airport, tough guy. Especially considering every single detail is a rumor but you seem to have all the facts.

Do you really think her husband made the phone call? This seems dubious at best. Most of us aren't buying that.

Any time the FAA gets involved in possible disciplinary issues than most of us normies realize that this could possibly affect our careers. That is the reason why professional standards exists and handling training issues "in house" rather than self reporting every stupid little issue to the FED's. Would you enjoy the FED's in your jumpseat on every single flight, every single training event, getting ramp checked after each flight, probably not. This was handled incredibly poorly and whoever squeeled is an idiot.

The SW crew definitely has the right to approach this women and have words with her. As far as the rest of us, a virtual ***** slap is good enough I guess.

tough guy? lol ok, you don’t need to be a tough guy to deny some one that’s a liability to the jumpseat. I don’t even know her name or what she looks like since it isn’t public knowledge like everyone defending her is assuming

It’s not dumbfounded for the FAA to suspend their certs while they investigate. Yeah, no one should go through that.
