Why would the union need to do damage control? They work for us, & when one of our own does something stupid, they will remind us how to keep ourselves out of similar trouble. Right now, it seems the stupidest thing happening is people sharing private information online based on inaccurate or incomplete understanding.

As this is civil litigation, individual rights are almost meaningless. She’ll probably name both United and ALPA, but I agree that she has minimal standing to sue UAL. A settlement with ALPA is probably the quickest path as getting the individual pilots who are bullying is going to be complicated, but the top offenders will probably get investigated and disciplined by the company.

i definitely see a much longer ant-harassment video with Javiar in the very near future.

This is probably her best bet, and unless UAL does everything by the book, she will get paid. I don't think it's right, but it'll probably be the cheapest path of least resistance for the company.

Not United's fault. Although if they don't send out a company-wide email prohibiting any form of retribution and promising punishment for it, the could probably be found at least somewhat liable, which plays into the "hostile work environment" lawsuit.

Accurate...coddled from Day 1, but convinced she is anything but.

And she will probably win.

Ultimately I see this lawsuit going her way, even though she doesn't deserve it, because that's just how things seem to work out these days. "I made a safety-related decision to contact the authorities and now no longer feel that I can safely work here" etc etc.

I think she absolutely deserves a big payday. No one deserves to be bullied. Yeah, she (or someone) made an error in judgement, but no other profession immediately starts bullying and doxxing quite like we do.

All other professions would start an ethics or malpractice investigation on the accused and work on a remedy once it was complete…not us!! We bring out the mob and pitchforks and want to hang our own before any investigation or facts are known. I hope any of you bullying or harassing this pilot learn an (expensive) lesson and stop being so bitter and mean all the time.

She definitely doesn’t deserve getting a check for this but paying out the lawsuit now and getting her out of flight deck is the best thing.

If she or her husband runs to the FAA causing an investigation for every small mistake or imperfection that happens imagine how many careers derailed along with expensive FAA inquiries will happen over the next 30 years. Although she will probably get the record for most bid avoid person ever.

Personally I don’t take the “get upset” route. Take the get even route. Request to have the FAA in her flight deck and simulator for every time she flies to note every thing done absolutely not perfect. Start investigations for each thing- result is that she will be terminated without a lawsuit- because no one flies perfect every time- I know when I have the absolute perfect flight- it’s time to retire.
