Just out of curiosity, for NH CAs, do you have to bid twice or if you bid for CA vacancy, does the FO part automatically follow?

The NHCA phenomenon is now officially over... The last vacancies were offered to the class that started 4/2, and judging by the most recent communication, we won't see them again for the foreseeable future. For the lucky few who did get those awards, I believe they can be FOs in whatever base their CA award is, until they've met the upgrade requirements and their award is activated...

Not to be *this* guy but if this is just to cover WB CA retirements and we know the influx of 787 deliveries is gonna hit sooner or later......if you had a crystal ball - when might we start to see the WB FO vacancy flood gates open for the 787?

United typically puts out the next summers WB bids in SEP-NOV.

that will cover all retirements through next summers peak schedule. We’re talking several hundred retirements plus 787 deliveries

Disclaimer: My next crystal ball question is not because I actually expect anyone to be able to predict the future, more so because I'm brand new on the line at United and asking others who have maybe been around for a little longer.....how far down the list do you expect these fall WB FO Vacancies to go - all the way down to half wingers?

Which base are you thinking about?

My easiest commute would be SFO/LAX but really not opposed to commuting elsewhere. More so just asking the timeframe for a new hire to get onto the airframe with the expected deliveries/retirements forecasted.

Regardless of base, you're asking a question that truly can't be answered. I'd guess (guess) that when they do appear, they won't be in numbers that would make it likely that super junior people would make the cut - even after August, I don't see many (any) WB FOs jumping over to NB CA. Add to that the change in flying - ie EWR going from one of the most junior 78 bases to one of the most senior (gline wise), it's really just a wait and see game. Have a bid in; you either hold it or don't. Nothing in between changes that.

To add to the timeline consideration: there hasn’t been many WB spots in the vacancies for months, so when they do come, it’ll most likely go very senior since people have been waiting to jump over. I don’t think you’ll see many people go WB to NB CA, especially anyone over say 60% BES, most people in that seniority pick up another trip and make close to captain pay guarantee.

Put a bid in and see what happens bid what you want, want what you bid as they say 😁

SFO is relatively junior and the 777 base there is enormous. I suspect that will go half-wing.
