well if you want to get technical AC 120-42B is for 121 operations…..so it doesn’t matter what the plane did under 91.

the United NEOs are not ETOPS certified so they will not be taking over 757 flying yet.

Key word; Yet. ETOPS is just a matter of time for the NEOs.

yep but without ACTs they will only be going to Hawaii from SFO/LAX that is no longer 757 flying as it is.

just to wrap this up since we are all talking in circles, the original question was “I wonder when the NEO will start taking over the 757 flying” and the answer is not for awhile.

756 fleet won't be going anywhere for a while...the Airbus will take over some of the flying or augment it I would imagine but yes the pencil jet will still be with us for years to come.

Yes circles round and round, like in European Vacation.

The 757 replacement was never targeted to be done by the NEO. (Unless you mean some hub to hub or florida turns) The XLR order is for replacement of the 757-200's to Europe.

What function do they serve? They're not just aesthetic, right?

At my last carrier, I was told it was to help absorb UV rays while at altitude. I have no idea if that’s true or not

Correct - extend life/reduce windshield maintenance cost. The raccoon eyes aren't just for aesthetics.

Mmm k, why aren’t they on every single plane from every manufacturer?
