In May, Airbus delayed the entry of service of its newest model to early 2024 from late 2023 as a result of the regulatory review, and in October it postponed the date to the second quarter of 2024.

Hello all, looking to create some conversation on the topic. With constant Boeing issues and delivery delays on NB & WB, doesn’t seem too unreasonable for Scott and crew to theoretically be looking to Airbus (especially WB) to swoop in keep United next going, replace aging jets, and grow. Any news on 350 orders? 350-1000? The late summer 330 rumor? Desire for 350-1K’s range? Side note, why don’t our 321’s have the raccoon eyes?

Why would United even order the XLR's if they weren't planning to utilize them for the full potential? You don't need an XLR to do what the NEO can do. It will absolutely take over some of the flying that makes the 756 fleet so desireable.

And YES you do need the XLR to do what the NEO CANT do because the NEO doesn’t have enough gas and isn’t ETOPS….yet.

The NEO doesn't have it, but I heard the XLR will. Apparently it's some sort of certification thing with that airframe, but I could be wrong. I personally think it looks terrible, so I wouldn't mind if it doesn't, but I think the XLR will require them.

For what it’s worth they can install the ACTs during a long overnight. NEOs have the panel for them and the fuel lines are already installed. No sense in dragging empty tanks around while the 75’s are still on property. No idea if that’s the plan or not but the added range is essentially a hand wave away.

IMO If Boeing gave us credit memos, not cash, for the most recent grounding that signals the Max and 78 will remain our NB and WB of choice going forward. Maybe there will be some bus leases in the short term or a small number of future 73 options switched to 321's years down the road, but adding 350's or 330's seems unlikely.
