Airplane for food for the most part tastes like garbage. It's easy to shed pounds when you decide that not eating that stuff is the more pleasant option. Better to buy something healthy in the airport than eat "free" crew meals anyway. That is unless you like salty rubber chicken with sharpie grill marks drawn on.
If you do get awarded IAH, prepare yourself to hear the phrase, "are you going to eat your cheesecake?"😂

Get the Kosher meal! Taste better and is a little better in quality. The salad is the only things that not high in sodium (guessing here, but that’s the general consensus on the line). Either way, welcome aboard!

LOL I tried to do just that in IAH today. It's impossible. Except for the one place next to E1 where you can get a fresh salad, custom mixed. Otherwise it's all the usual grease bombs.
Truth! I always special -order the "LT" options...it swaps the cheesecake for fruit. Of course I always regret it when I see the other guy enjoying his cheesecake...

Believe it or not, I've actually found the "light choice seafood" to be pretty darn good. I've had two salmons in a row that would have been acceptable at a decent land-side restaurant. The chicken on the other hand...

lighter choice beef is the most consistently edible thing I’ve seen. Sometimes it’s too tough, or kind of meh, but it’s generally pretty good. Some places, it has been downright tasty.

I take the time to walk to the salad place. They'll wait. Garbage shelf stable breakfast for a 2 hour flight followed by a 55 min turn on the north side, not my problem. I walk over to E terminal, get something healthy, and we leave when we leave. If I'm flying with a half winger who is hungry and worried about being on probation, I go get something for them while they get the plane ready. I've pushed late numerous times and have never had a phone call about it.

The Black cod isn't bad either, for seafood. I just avoid the egg/tortilla breakfast because it must be at least 1500 calories. Lord knows how much sodium is in everything, but for a former regional guy who was excited if I managed to get a snack box, the novelty and convenience of our crew meals is still much appreciated...
