I flew the 319/320 here at United and also at JetBlue. We had the smell all the time at JetBlue. Didn’t know what it was until around the time I was leaving. No one really talked about it until around 2010. Never had an event in 7 years and 5000 hours of flying here at UAL. This is a new issue here and hopefully short lived but I wonder what Airbus changed in the 2008/2009 airframe builds timeframe that has made this an issue since.

I’ll put that rumor to rest. It’s not a smell issue or rodents.

I didn’t bother looking up the any issues since I’m not currently on the fleet. I’m glad to hear it’s not that issue.

Very sorry I said "sniff out" the problem, should have said "sleuth out". Nothing to do with smell or even moving parts.

It’s a bit more involved than dirty packs or whatever is making the rounds. The issue stems from different issues like over servicing the hydraulics to using a particular type of engine and probably a few more. More so recently, it’s been a NEO issue. I thought it was strictly just the Pratts. If it’s also the LEAPs then it’ll probably fall back on Airbus.

Some guys at NK are out on medical and one CA even died years back. I know I was out on workers comp when it happened. Luckily, side effects didn’t last long and I was back in short order.

all the old XJT people should be familiar with the odor. The old EPs always had the same “dirty sock” smell…

Someone posted an email from their HR rep on the WhatsApp chat yesterday that said they haven't started filling October classes yet.

Every half-winger post I have seen for aug and sep classes indicate the emails went out no later than 42 days out (Tuesday 6 weeks prior). For a hypothetical Oct 8 class, that is today.
