I believe so. The Israel conflict could hurt UAL much more than just stopping TLV service. This can have a profound effect on routes and other destinations in that part of the world. Plus, this is separate from Russia/Ukraine which is a ticking time bomb now that NATO seems to be involved.
It looks like Kamala will be winning in November so this will be a continuation of current foreign policies which have been an embarrassment. I am retired Army SF and have never seen this much uncertainty before. I even have added more non-perishable goods to my pantry like beans, rice and pasta. Bought a lot of water and got more gasoline and some other supplies. Not saying WWIII is inevitable, but things are not going in the right direction. Furloughs will be the least of our issues should it come here.

This coincides with United cancelling flights to Israel. Not a good thing to happen and even if all out war can be avoided, this mess will wreak havoc on airline’s profits and routes. I’ve been saying this is bound to happen.

This doesn’t even include the Russia/Ukraine conflict and just how close we are to WWIII. This period reminds me of the Cuban Missile Crisis. Are you not concerned for any of these possibilities?

Yes, and thanks to retirements and growth, they kept hiring normal levels (minus the hiatus due to Boeing). The issues going on now from Israel and Russia/Ukraine, combined with an election year, are likely going to be bad for business. If Iran and Israel go at it, you can kiss a lot of the profitable WB flying goodbye. The trickle down effect will hit the US economy.

I was still in the Middle East then. I’m not a “prepper” by any means. It’s just a good idea to have basic supplies and things necessary for survival should something happen. Nuclear war with us and Russia is not out of the question. Even if things don’t get that bad, there could be other attacks that disrupt food supply, power grid, etc. I am still expecting furloughs within the next year or so, but I am hoping that we can avoid war.
