UNITED???? Passenger in CAPT seat in FLIGHT?

The 121 reg currently says the CVR only has to hold the last 2 hours of information. There have been several recent events such as the AA runway incursion at JFK where the information was lost and the FAA is now working on upping the CVR time to 25 hours, matching the FDR.

And since United actually has people in the NOC dedicated to monitoring social media, I would think that this was flagged fairly quickly.
I did a deeper dive on the CA and found a 20xx newhire class photo where she was listed a PI and BI instructor.

IMHO the problem starts at INDOC. We have the “culture” of “don’t worry about it we will get you through if your having problems” and the Indoc test is open book. Meanwhile it’s pretty much expected we all go drinking most nights. I can’t tell you how many times when I was working at TK guys would show up to FTDB1 and when I asked them to tell me the call outs for a go around, they were deer caught in the headlights. Expecting to be spoon fed. Also, one student I had received 10 extra sim sessions. Incredible.
while agree everybody deserves a second and maybe 3rd chance. We need to have a more serious attitude during training and be willing to weed out people who don’t belong in the flight deck. We always say “well regionals have direct entry captains so why can’t we?” It’s because at a regional if you mess up, your out after maybe one extra sim session or after failing a non open book test.

The problem is 'inside the building'. TK.
We line pilots are a product of what we're taught at TK.

The average new hire has something like 3,000 flight hours and well over a decade of flight experience, but a 9 day Indoc course is enough to rewire their brain?

Those conversations tend to be pretty basic. After indoc there is never a real measure of FOM knowledge. Someone could almost get by never reading the book again and just following what the norm on the line is. I'd like to see a measure of our current training regarding how much time is spent covering the FOM vs time spent on NPS, disc, core4, and helping Xavier with a problem.

So how do you guys at DL and AA run charters? Just like a normal revenue flight? Cockpit door closed the whole time during flight? Regular line FAs? Same PAs? Just curious. Not exactly the impression I get from friends there. This inicident will probably result in an industry wide shift in regards to how sports charters are conducted.
