Quite frankly there are too many damn time builders in general aviation and it’s extremely difficult to flush them out and to keep them out. They’re like leeches. They feed off of students’ time and money to build their logbooks while giving hardly anything back. In the meantime, the student suffers, and will continue to suffer. Civilian aviation always has and hate to say it, but always will have this serious problem. It drives me up the wall.
Take that CFI job. Don’t feel bad. With your experience and skill level and the knowledge and skills you could pass down to students, is invaluable. It will also force the ‘time-builder’ CFI’s to work harder to compete for a CFI position. If working along side some of the young time build instructors, it will likely foster a competitive environment for them to work harder with their students and be a good instructor since they know they are working with a current/retired airline pilot who likely has decades of experience. You could be a good mentor for those other CFI’s, something that is severely lacking in the CFI ranks. It will be harder for them overall, not easier, which is good. It may very well force them to up their teaching game.

The problem here is cameras and social media clowns. This has been going on for decades, ( well, letting them up on the jump seat anyway, and flight attendants sitting in pilots seat during pee breaks), without incident. I can personally name several, baseball coaches and at least one world series winning pitcher who have sat on jump seats. Unfortunately, these days there are people willing to push the envelope a little too far. In the past no one was stupid enough to film and publish it on the inter webs.

Constant giggling, voice inflections and exaggerated high pitched voice... Do you think she talks like that when she orders coffee at Starbucks?
I counted about 6 giggles in a one minute video. 6 GPM combined with the increased voice pitch supports PipeMan's theory.

You may disagree with PipeMan, but there is obvious peacocking from the captain.
