that’s insane! What airline forces you to be an LCA? That’s an airline I don’t want to work for right there.

not even sure how the FAA would buy off on that…..I really don’t think they would.

I've been thinking about applying to United

I used to drift my honda civic back in college and I'm pretty good at it

I wasn't commenting on the DEI nonsense. I was commenting on the areas that I reported that a posted said "WGAF?". It was about time in type, time in seat, etc.

Who ever said forced? I'm saying that a guy who seeks the position rather than one who is nominated for it isn't necessariily the best person for the job. If you're saying there was a LCA in the right seat of the 767 who took off into a hail storm, then there ya go. They are no gift to aviation...

There was a LCA on that flight. But why are you acting so holy? Never made a mistake in your career? Planes fly into hail with some regularity unfortunately and it's pretty hard to detect hail with onboard radar. You're telling me you've never ended up flying in/around some storms that you probably shouldn't have in hindsight? You were just lucky there wasn't any hail.

you are making zero points about anything…..inexperienced pilots are the worst…..experienced pilots are the worst….LCAs are terrible because they volunteer…….have a nice day.

LCA was in the JS in this case. They were taking off in Milan towards the terrain and turned toward the hail storm during departure. By the time they were facing it and went from terrrain to wx they were in it. After few very loud moments in which they couldn't communicate (too loud) and they lost their radar (hail damage) they punched out the other side. Diverted to Rome to make sure they remained vmc and had no indication of damage except windshield cracked and radar stopped working.

I've made mistakes but i've never taken off into a thunderstorm! I have set the parking brake at the departure end of the runway tho...

So, was the CA on the max in IAH experienced enough to know that runways can be slippery when wet? That's the question of the day...

It was a senior captain. Everyone makes mistakes. Are you even an airline pilot?
