It handles fine in my opinion except on wet runway paint with months of rubber buildup, just like every transport jet. As far as handling goes, an MD11 with an aft CG is just about the worst plane out there. 737 is docile comparatively.

we need a new thread about incompetent ATC instructions. It was 1000 rvr in MCO
recently and they told me to expedite taxi. 3 planes go around because aircraft are going slow to find the taxiway. And ATC is clueless. I’m configured with flaps and make me accelerate to 250 retract flats for 1 minute only to slow to 170 after that. ATC will be probable cause for next accident.

A simple "unable" in both of these situations would've done the job. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

MD-80 had a very low percentage of weight on the nose gear. That's how they were able to use the roller bag tires on the nose gear. Lots of MD-80's went skidding over the years even with the engines being fuselage mounted (differential split N1 still rotated the airplane!).

None of them are cars or race cars when it comes to cornering capability.

Took the short runway. "Always take the longest runway." (dumb belief by some).

If they can skid off a 10,000' runway they could do it on a 12,001' runway. :-/
