Just my opinion but when even the military guys are b1tching about being slow rolled:

I think the odds of someone with only 1000 turbine SIC getting the call (unless you have some other really impressive credentials) would not be real good. Take the upgrade. Current 121 TPIC probably counts for more than anything short of marrying the BODs daughter.

Techincal answer: yes

Answer to the question you're really asking: no

The hiring binge that started in late 2021 was an aberration caused by 2-3 years of retirement happening simultaneously. That situation is gone and we're going back towards historical norms where it takes significant experience to get a major job. How much? Nobody really knows because nobody (much) is hiring.

Things will be a lot clearer in mid 2025, but for now if I had to guess anything it is that regional pilots with less than 121 TPIC under 1000 hours won't get much attention. The entire network carrier ecosystem is dependent on regional FO's upgrading to regional captain and staying until the cycle repeats. Lots of ULCC pilots, military pilots, corp pilots and experienced regional captains to feed the system.

1000 turbine time is gonna be a minimum for people with special qualifications.

Russian planes flying in there is nothing new. Having Russian AND Chinese bombers in there at the same time is unprecedented.

Did you say the same thing in December? Time to go back in the basement.

I am able to "work from home" with my other job sometimes so this will help. I get nervous going out to grocery stores and such and try to only go during times I know very few people are there, but I find it hard to escape that when going to airports and hotels.

The airports and downtown hotels are so crowded and always think people may make them a target of violence. Thankfully I don't do many overnights due to my bidding seniority and living close to the airport. I don't even park in the employee parking lot anymore because it forces us to walk through the front entrance where people are dropped off/picked up. I only park in the paid garage where passengers park so I can walk right to security. Sucks to pay that every time but I find it worth it. I know, I know, I shouldn't look at the news and see all the violence and shootings going on, I am working on this.

Just curious if anyone else has these thoughts. I'm sure homeschooling and doing more work around the house can keep me busy, but I would feel a bit "lost" not getting to fly cool jets occasionally.

There was a poll taken on the RST FB page I believe, and it was over the quals of the recent people extended CJOs. Very few (less than 5%) had less than 1000TPIC and degree.

As the other person said, always apply and update often.
