Class of medical could be specified in UAL's insurance. UAL also flys with FO's as relief pilots and may not want different rules.

This is the reason. When primary crew is in rest on longer internatinal trips, someone up font has to have a class I medical.

Continental used to have this in the Ops Manual, it all changed after a ramp check in CDG one day....apparently it was an ICAO thing.
