The AA WOs is a similar situation, especially if a CA. Everyone poaches each other’s feeder, but is very selective against robbing their own.

Curious, who is the Embraer Part 135 operator you are referring to? Associated with aviate?
JSX. I fly for them but I have nothing to do with the program. We have tons of people go to the majors, but nobody seems to be able to get hired by United. I honestly don’t think we have anyone at the entire company that is in Aviate.

I understand your question and thought I answered it. But let me clarify.

If you’re at an Aviate participant carrier and not in the program, United will not hire you. So yes, your app is flagged. At least that’s the rule today. Always subject to change.

You would do great at any of the WOs. Piedmont and near entry CA to the 145 perhaps, and some bonus money. Then apply UAL from there. Envoy if you want to stay DFW, could street CA there shortly I suppose.

prob is, if you really want UAL, you will first have to work for another carrier.

I thought only C5, Go Jet and Mesa were in aviate. How does JSX fit into the mix? Seems like an obscure relationship to keep you from applying to UAL directly.

Best of luck on the path you choose!

If you do your homework and prep, go to Delta or American. If spirit will hire you mainline somewhere other than UA might hire you.

worst case the world falls apart and you're furloughed as a commuter with a number.

If UA calls and decide it’s better you go there later, great.

Thanks for the answers! JSX, Ameriflight, Wiggins, and Tradewind are apparently all Aviate partners. Who knew? Not me.

I concur and have first hand knowledge of this.

United thinks it can have its cake and eat it too by staffing its Regionals while keeping the pipeline to the major full. Of course, this method doesn’t take into account what is best for the pilot - just United. At this point, if you’re not at the top of the AVIATE list, your best bet is getting on with a LCC then making the jump to UAL. United is almost desperate for pilots.

Honestly, I feel everyone loves saying this because that’s what the general consensus is with most pilots. Yes, historically pilot programs have been doing that to pilots. But I feel no one has ACTUALLY done their research before saying this about Aviate. Aviate can actually get you to United in a couple of years.

Just as an example, can get hired at Ameriflight at 1200TT with only Cesssna hours under your belt and starting building turbine PIC at 1200TT because of single pilot ops. 1200TPIC at Ameriflight and you are at United. Not a guaranteed interview or not even flow. You are guaranteed an actual class date contractually within 4 months of hitting 1200TPIC at Ameriflight. Also applies to other Aviate partners but probably fastest at the part 135s because you don’t need the 1000 hours to upgrade.

To get 1,200 TPIC at JSX, one would have to upgrade in the ERJ, and then fly for 3-4 years. We only get 300-400 hours a year here. Meanwhile, with 750 hours in the 145 and 1,500 total, I could get on with Delta. Go figure.
