We already have pure short call and long call lines in the current contract.
The biggest change for reserve is the 18 hour rest between trips and 16 hour before a short call. This makes it so they cannot just daisy chain trips and SCs together like they do now, ie 12 or 10 hours to show, as it is now. You may actually get a day off in-between trips with this. that being said, unfortunately this is not scheduled to go in until next Aug assuming they implement those SC lines to counter less reserve utilization. the soon to change of 12 hours to show when they cut a SC short to assign a trip is another good change for RSVs. currently it is a 10 hour leash which is bad. also the 3 hour add pay for voluntary FSB, whether you fly or not, is definitely good. assuming they use FSB like they do now you this can add up.

The difference is that in the new TA there is a defined minimum number of LCL only lines, where currently you start out as long call until they arbitrarily decide to change that.
20-K-1-f-(1)-(c)

The new agreement also restricts what LCL holders can be assigned.
20-K-1-f-(1)-(a)
20-K-1-f-(1)-(b)

Also, involuntary FSB has been eliminated and replaced with a voluntary only system that offers significant add pay. We didn’t get everything that was asked for, but to say that reserve hasn’t changed is a stretch.

The unfilled capt vacancies tell a different story but hey at least we got industry standard pay rates.

So now they call you to the airport to cover a specific flight for no add pay twice a month. Will this be implemented right away or aug 24? If FSB is eliminated every res will be putting in 2 not called FSB every month.

LOA-23-01 list the phase in period from December 2023 - August 2024. After that FSB is voluntary only, includes 3 hours add pay per assignment, and is available to line holders as well as reserves. It’s all there the contract summary, contract comparison, red line agreement, task team training videos, podcast, and sending the task team PDR’s. There is a ton of information available, my suggestion is that people research and learn the document that we will be living under for the next 6+ years rather than go off of what they heard somewhere. We should know and follow the contract like we do the FM and FOM.

I think he is referring to contingent reserve which certainly smells a lot like FSB with a few caveats.

The LAX roadshow recording does a pretty good job of explaining contingent reserve starting at 50:40.

Yeah, I've seen it and I understand it's different, but it's also pretty similar. I'll never sit reserve again, but I actually would have preferred involuntary FSB 2x/mo to that. Only time will tell as to how much it's used.

Voluntary FSB pays 3 hrs add pay, Involuntary contingent reserve pays no add pay and if not assigned that"specific flight" you could be sitting at the airport for up to three hours to be reassigned. They can only assign one pilot for one specific flight. Which type of res you think is better for the company? With a cap of two per pilot more pilots will be tagged.
