In the 37 as FO what kind of seniority do you generally need to hold a line? To get occasional weekends off?

3 day hkg trip is 27.5 hours. Do 3 of those, 9 days of work for 82 hours. Might have to work weekends as a mid seniority fo, but it can be done.

I voted yes to the poll, but I chose to upgrade for personal reasons before the AIP was published. All the language that comes out will hopefully be improvements for narrowbody reserve rules and will simply improve my new QOL as a mid-level reserve captain. I was going to upgrade now regardless of a new contract or not, but I do hope all the bullet points turn into meaningful improvements in the final language.

I commute. I’ve only ever gotten one premium trip in my time at UAL. For me to make the same as a CA, I have to credit about 135 hours (impossible for me to do). Commutable trips generally suck in my base. I’ve been doing roughly four 4-day trips a month so I can make some reasonable money, so why not work two extra days, suck it up for a couple years, then maybe go WBFO at that point?

plus, new pay rates are roughly what current 777/787 captains are making, and you sure don’t see those spots go unfilled.

I took the upgrade because I’m not in my 20s, and I want to pay off my house and some other bills. I’m really hoping the new contract makes reserve improvements. Yea, I took a gamble.

I dont know, im too lazy to go look that close. I am about 40ish percent on the 777 and I can hold hkg and syd and tlv on the weekends. even if you cant get those, my guess is PVG and TPE are available at that level. PVG on the weekends is a 3 day for 25 hours and TPE is a 4 day (last day getting home at 6am) for 25 hours. 3 of those is 75 hours.

Not right now. Someone hired 5 years ago on IAH 777 FO is on reserve. And 5 years from now, you’d be a much different percentage than someone hired 5 years ago.
