Question is probably more whether it is worth doing on a 32-year-old plane

My guess is the repairs will cost more then what they'll get from the insurance.
Do we have insurance? I thought most airlines self-insure.

also everyone said the same thing about that 320 with the tailstrike but it was still getting worked on in IAH as of a few weeks ago so maybe she’ll fly again.

Even “if” it flys again (I respect its privacy), it’ll be the gimpiest bird in the fleet.

I guess see paragraph 1. I would assume the Airbus was a lot younger of a plane than 32 and has plenty of life in it. The 767-300s are all pretty toasted at this point.

As far as the "damage", there's plenty of photos out there floating around to see as far as the exterior "skin wrinkles" and damage. Nothing definitive yet as to the airframe's future, but in speaking with someone who's seen it in person, most likely a suspected Hull Loss on the initial view.

The revenue flight on the 29th was EWR - IAH. So there's no confusion or bad rumors for those pulling up crew lists, the working crew has been "scrubbed" off the crew list as it presently stands. Those who are on the list right now were DH Pilot's/not the working crew. The working Capt was an LCP (UA speak for Ck Airman) , the FO was was a new hire on an OE leg. It's rumored that the FO was a former FA prior to being hired as a Pilot at United.

Seriously who the actual F*CK would want to be a LCP with the type of pilots United is selectively hiring atm.

the Airbus that got whacked is a 2006 build…..the youngest Airbus in the fleet at the moment. Makes sense they would fix it.

I heard from a DL buddy that the DL Azores 757 was leased and the leasing company wanted it fixed.

No argument that the bus is definitely younger, just pointing out that when it happened everyone was saying it was definitely a hull loss and they wouldn’t bother fixing it, and here we are months later and they’re still dumping money into it.

We fly they manage, I doubt anyone here is privy enough to the economics of the situation to make a truly educated comment on whether or not it’ll be scrapped.

No, the question is, did they get a wind check?

Do you think it's all that much different from the hiring at Delta and American?
