There’s another thread talking about the average age/regional experience of the average new hire.
For those of us that sucked up regionals during the dark decade PLUS, it’s really nothing NEW. We’re just dealing with it at the legacy level and all the benefits that go with it.
Ill never forget the wise/sage words of a mainline guy years ago when I was but a wee lad at the regionals;
”Listen here junior, the pay check is bigger, the problems STAY THE SAME”.
But yes, it’s funny to watch a CA flipping his kid over he fecal cinema.

😂😂. Likewise 😂😂. Every week "...they pay someone a full salary to do that job, not you or me..." As newly retired fighter pilot or recent regional pilot ask me if I want them to help solve a problem someone gets paid to do.

There are probably many FOs out there (perhaps even some CAs now) that came on the scene in the Covid timeframe. I meet plenty of guys/gals who started at their regional then, and basically only experienced the alternate universe that was 2020-2022...3 hour ground delay programs, mass cancellations, 2 hour taxi outs were never on their plates. Welcome to reality, the total clusters that ensue.

They will eventually get it in time for the betterment of their medical long term.
At XYZ airlines we didn’t……. <blank>. My usual response to that comment is why did you come here then ?
Then I get the list of all the good things they gained by being hired here.
So you expected ALL good with NO negative coming to UA (any other major really) ? Overblown and unrealistic expectations are the norm nowadays with absolutely no context.
I go in depth on the layover (with meal picked up by me) on why that wasted energy is futile and the crew and the pax are the priority of our effort.

What does the “C” stand for in CEO, CFO, or COO? Those are basically the top 3 positions of every corporate structure. There can be 1000 VPs of XYZ. VP is a typical middle management title. CHIEF of XYZ is usually a bit more substantial. The point is….there isn’t enough focus on having a Chief “let’s not eff up the operation” in this company.

LoL this is a big issue. I’ve seen it more often than not in the 3yrs and less seniority range. The sheer look of astonishment that I see from those guys/gals as I control what I can and let the rest go is satisfying 😳.

It’s such a weird Stockholm syndrome response. The new guys aren’t saying their old place was better, they’re just pointing out how the new place can improve. Most of the people that have been here a long time have no idea the work rules the ULCCs and Regionals have now, how ours have lagged advanced in the industry, and how those could be adapted here for everyone’s benefit.
I’d rather have a slightly whiny newbie that wants and is willing to fight for a better contract than a slack jawed “wow I’m so happy to be here I’ll let the company do whatever they want with me, never complain, never file a PDR, always extend, and do nothing to fight for a better contract” company Stan.
It’s not “my old place was better” it’s “why don’t we try to adapt the few good things my previous ****hole employer had to make this place even better”.

Because after 20 plus years of trying that approach, you realize that it’s falling on deaf ears and nothing changes. Newark was a goat rope 20 years ago. And guess what, it’s gonna be a goat rope 20 years from now. You make it sounds like we haven’t tried that before. Now have a drink and relax.

When you get to mainline, you discover it can be the same feces cinema, just with more people to disappoint (larger planes) at the same time and making more money.
