Yup. Captain controls the parking brake coming off the gate, so don’t release it until everything is correct. Coming into the gate, keep the pax informed, watch the circus and take the overs.

Just because he got the name of the position wrong, doesn’t mean the position doesn’t exist.

Along with what everyone else says, there is plenty of info available to you from better sources than this forum. You are not the first poster I've seen fretting about where we are going to park all those jets. Do you know what is going to happen to Terminals 1 and 2 in ORD? (Hint - a lot more mainline capable gates). How about IAD? (Hint - the train to nowhere will finally go somewhere with new gates and the A terminal RJ gates will go away). SFO got rid of several RJ parking stands while adding a WB gate and securing a couple more mainline gates in Terminal 2. EWR got some new gates in Terminal A with more to come. DEN has added a lot of gates for mainline service in the last couple of years. LAX Terminal 9 may finally become a reality. Meanwhile, the number of UAX RJs flying around has dropped pretty dramatically since the pandemic hit. We've also retired 4 Airbii so far this year with more leaving after the summer peak, and our oldest 767s will turn 31 next year so I wouldn't be surprised if we park some in addition to the one that was retired late last year. And if we run out of parking spots or warm bodies at TK we can always defer Max orders like we've deferred our 350 order for over a decade. Don't worry about UAL management, they have lots of monetary incentive to plan ahead. I'd worry a lot more about decades of chronic underinvestment in ATC, which has finally been coming home to roost this summer.

Interesting take. Most trips I’m having to smooth my FOs nerves while we watch the ($hit) show. Seems the new folks didn’t realize what they were walking into operationally.
