Final language will drive things, but even with the AIP there hasn’t been much shift in the appeal of being a 737 Captain.
If Kirby wasn’t so cheap and bought more airbuses instead of 73s there probably would be less unfilled CA vacancies, even with UALs **** reserve rules.

I’ll take my awesome trips, awesome schedule, 20 days off, 1 or maybe 2 legs a day, and Caribbean and S America flying until I retire before I give 2 poops about a silly tray table and auto trim. GMAFB.

so dumb… everybody gets 20 days off and a pony on the 737. Nice job finding the extreme end of the bell curve and thinking it applies to basically anyone.

Well I’ve been here less than 4 years and on day one I still couldn’t have cared less about a tray table and auto trim.

DUDE, get a grip, take a breath, S T F U. All you do is lurk on other forums than your own and try to talk trash and dump on people and their airlines. I haven’t been on another forum for years, it’s all you do, pathetic. It’s clear to anyone with a brain that you are an insecure pus, have a tiny wiener and absolutely no self confidence, driving you to denigrate everyone else to prop yourself up.
Go away, peddle your inciteful nonsense elsewhere.

but is he wrong?
I can say personally that I have seen a decrease in those coming through training with Captain (with a capitol C) qualities. More and more we are seeing those come through training for upgrade who have little to no PIC time in multi-pilot ops let alone 121/Mil PIC experience.
Now are we setting ourselves up for an accident/incident because of this, only time will tell.

Not. Believable. In any universe.

I can’t believe I’m biting on the airbus versus Boeing debate… But as someone who got fairly senior on the airbus, and still couldn’t find good trips, I can vouch that there is a disproportionate amount of desirable flying on the 737. I miss being able to pull out my book and/or sweater in cruise from my easily accessible roll-aboard… But the flying more than makes up for it. In the end, great that we have a choice.

My awarded bid in August actually has 6.49 hours per day I’m at work, and only 19 days off, so ok yeah. The pilots 10% or so senior to me are absolutely 7.5-8.0 hours per day or more.

Count yourself lucky, then. Even 2015 hires in EWR 737 FO aren’t getting close to that.

On top of that, the upgrade dynamics are a bit different at all three carriers due to work rules and qol issues.
