Like I have been saying, better get your captain bid in now if you want it. I think the unbid captain slots are about to do a 180 and captain will start going somewhat senior again. The reasons include:
-Actual positive space commuting for first time captains for 12 months
-Functional positive space commuting for anyone (Buy a cheap offline ticket and you don’t need a backup flight)
-Ability of new hires to bid captain (must reach the hours, but still, less of a barrier than it is today)
-Improved reserve rules
-Even more of a pay difference now in terms of total dollars
-Age 67 somewhat likely to pass
If you don’t bid captain now, it may be a long time before you can bid it again…

I speak from experience when I say stagnation blows. Bid the seat you’re willing to sit in for 4 years. Money isn’t everything and having a good QOL schedule is.

Or.....stick it out on the NB FO line? Or try WBFO (flirting with G line, but not guaranteed).
Ugh.

I gotta admit...I know it closes soon, but I'm really wrestling with bidding CA or not on this one. Commuting to an 80+ hour line, I figure I may as well commute to 2x+ the pay on reserve. It's pretty much the same days off. Though waiting for PS commute would be nice.

This allows you to see if you like longhaul flying... the big issue is being able to sleep on your rest period and flipping between time zones.
You can always bid up to NB CA from WB FO but get a freeze that keeps you from changing seats if you go from NB CA to WB FO. You get a freeze in either case, but with WB FO you can bid up pay bands. You can't bid down pay bands until your freeze is over (or are displaced).

If you're considering making a move, I'd recommend WB FO before NB CA.

OK, I'll ask a simple question. Can you sleep in an E- middle seat? If the answer's no, I'd be very careful about being trapped flying widebodies for 3 years.
