Even once we get an AIP - it still will have to be approved by the MEC (I believe DL’s vote was something like 9-8). Then it goes to final language / implementation which has to be approved again.
during Tumi - they announced the AIP after the MEC approved it for the next stage.
you could definitely read the email, and conclude that the deal is done - just has not yet been voted on by the MEC. I assume they will have questions and need to listen to SME’s and ALPA national before the vote.

AIP > TA
NC > MEC
What happened to the NC following directions and finding an agreement in principle? Then the MEC votes to decide if it becomes a tentative agreement?
I guess I’m having trouble understanding why the MEC would have a role this early before an AIP is announced?

Like I mentioned, DL’s vote at the AIP phase was like 9-8 or 8-7, something like that, but then they accepted the final language TA nearly unanimously.

I thought the same thing Dash - but I learned through union work that the MEC will formally vote to accept any final close out proposal, and thus to stop negotiating. In fact I thought the rumblings of a DL AIP were false simply because I had the same though that the MEC doesn’t vote on AIPs.

Y’all just let me know when I’ve got something to look at other than airline acronyms. 😂

Somewhat cryptic MEC update. Apparently the MEC is still giving direction to the NC, meaning that there’s some part of the deal that’s not yet acceptable (or at least doesn’t meet current guidance).
Sounds to me like if the NC can meet the MEC’s direction before the regular MEC meeting adjourns, the MEC will stay over to evaluate and send it on to the AIP step. If not, the MEC will adjourn and we’re back to business as usual.
(Does that have enough acronyms for you Andy? 😁 )

Lol, yep. Prob another feign to get through the quarterly press release Friday without having to address the lack of a new contract. (Would be awesome if we dropped a vote to strike on Thursday) Along with the meltdown and private plane deal I’m sure Kirby doesn’t want any more negative press on the profits we are going to post. Promises have got him through over 3 summers already, what’s one more to get him through a week?
