If anyone wants to spitefully celebrate how the company we work for is royally screwing hundreds of thousands of pax perhaps that could be done in private.
true....but I have to wonder what our diversity department is doing to mitigate the situation?

Laying the blame for the delay in getting an ILC only with the company is absurd. Maybe if the pilots wore orange belts, ties, shoelaces and head bands that would do the trick.

Good luck.

If this is true...wow! The other pictures with that link are sad. These CEOs are disgusting.

The meltdown is impacting minorities and people of color disproportionately. Our DEI department must address the climate emergency and clear all the smoky air in the North East. Reparations to include free first class travel should be considered, it’s the good thing to do and good leads the way.

Not sure where you’re getting any of this from the post I quoted, which was about the fact that strong company financials don’t necessarily guarantee us a commensurate benefit. Last I checked, we recalled most of the union reps involved in TUMI 1 so I don’t think anyone is suggesting they didn’t play a big role in that or bear some responsibility for where we are today.

What, you’re telling me all that helping the company we did didn’t mean anything and mgmt is gonna manage?!?!? Color me shocked.

If you wanna blame someone, blame TI and the toddlers. They’re the ones that gave it all away at your expense.

Been watching all of this from the sidelines and it looks like a total ATC FUBAR that disproportionately effects EWR. They get a couple of storms rolling around the area suddenly the arrival and departure rates are slashed because controllers can’t control anymore. They lose one or two SID/STAR corridors and suddenly they can’t control manually. Ever been in and out of ORD during wx like this? Zero change. There has to be a tornado on top of the field for them to start panicking. There’s one SID and the controllers take it from there. Best in the business, and no I don’t live or work in ORD just calling it like I see it.

I was there when they started groundstopping for minor weather. Kirby isn’t playing an honest game but the guy isnt kidding that this kerfluckle is, in near totality, a failure of ATC.

Did I really see a picture of him (Scott Kirby) taking a charter flight!! Lolololol. That guy is leading at the front of the stick that holds the tip of the spear. He’s got your back 180 degrees.

When in doubt, just ask yourself, WWSKD?

ALPA, this needs to be a bracelet, a tag or something.

United really had no chance at all of completing their summer schedule. EWR is a dumpster fire of a hub and has very little chance of success. UAL's fleet is really old (over 50% of the airplanes are over 20 years old) and the management/scheduling system is simply not designed for this amount of flying.

It is fun that you are all blaming this on ATC, but the truth is that your management screwed up badly by trying to fly such an aggressive schedule. UAL is getting hammered in what should be the most profitable few weeks in the history of aviation. This disaster is 100% Kirby's fault. There is no way it was ever going to be successful. A good leader would have set a summer schedule that was manageable.

So far today, United has had their best operational day in a week with only 440 cancellations.

Meanwhile, here are the cancellations for the rest of the US:

United, 440
Southwest, 22
JetBlue, 22
Delta, 6
American, 0

United has pretty much cancelled more flights today than just about every other airline in the world combined. And today is the best day in a week.

Everyone knows that United is trying to the the biggest airline, but it is obvious it is far from achieving this goal.

I’m not saying ORD controllers aren’t good. They are. They’re great. However, there’s huge difference in the airspace. EWR is way more geographically difficult due to an ocean, other major cities and major airports, etc. ORD is a huge operation but it’s basically surrounded by nothing. Tons of room to deviate from the standard without disrupting other major airports and airspace.
