Have tried to call the crew desk or the hotel desk?
Something is driving this at UAL. Yesterday 750 canceled flights and today over 300 already. Other airlines are in single digits today. No real ATC issues either day.

This is all a ripple effect from day 1. How many other airlines have an operation in NY close to the size of our EWR op?

EWR is certainly the Achilles heel of this operation. It was the same at Republic. A perpetual ****show.

Delta’s NY operation is the same size as United. Delta has had many meltdowns in NY but normally recovers rapidly.

I believe priority is giving to jfk and LGA over ewr atc wise due to the number of international carriers going into there.

Hmm... the best I can figure out off of Flight Aware is about 650 flights for UAL outta EWR and LGA. Delta has about 560 flight/day out of JFK and LGA. That's about 15% less than UAL.

Yesterday, UAL cancelled 191 flights out of EWR alone and DAL only canceled 27 total from JFK and LGA. That's a 700 % greater cnx rate on about 18% greater volume. If we were talking small numbers it might be that egregious of a disparity due to small sample size, unfortunately 191 cnx out of EWR is significant.

So, it might have more to to with something other than sheer numbers as I take your post to allude to as the biggest reason.

edit ....Sailing beat me to it sort of

Frigging amateurs. Come back and talk to me when you’ve canceled 3,000/day like we at SWA did.

I think Delta managed 2000 once! Honorable mention?

A handful of posters here need to stop insinuating that this has anything to do with the pilot group and/or the contract struggle. This meltdown has nothing to do with pilots or the contract.

If anyone wants to spitefully celebrate how the company we work for is royally screwing hundreds of thousands of pax perhaps that could be done in private.

Ewr is relying on commuters and other bases to staff most of its flying which has never worked well in severe wx. That along with pilots, flight attendants, and planes that swap every flight ieads to a nightmare to put back together. Ewr also has a lot of apathy towards its customers from iPad ordering in the terminal, filthy chairs, and a staff above and below the wing that is a number that isn't human. If only we would shuck and jive at the podium more to distract from those inadequacies.
