Default Fresno Commuters

Howdy Folks,

NH here finishing Fleet shortly and soon to be occupying a spot at the bottom of the SFO 787 list. I currently live in the East Bay so no commuting issues in the near future, however I would like to buy a house sometime this decade. Currently looking at Fresno, Sac and Reno.

I'm hoping to get some opinions from any SFO-based folks who commute from the Fresno area (Loads, options, how often you hop in the car to drive as a last resort). Assuming the current Global rules eventually go away, first glance doesn't seem like too bad of a gig for WB living out in the central valley.

-Thanks all

I’m no airline pilot but if I were a NH at an airline I wouldn’t buy a house just because they can stop hiring tmrw and start furloughing

I'm confused as to why you felt the need to post. You are entitled to your own input though, regardless of relevance I suppose.

As a WB guy Fresno or Sacramento is super doable. Drive, don’t fly.

This was kinda the hunch I had.. I don't mind a 3 hr drive if it's only 3-4 times a month.

I'm just curious how easy or difficult FAT - SFO flights are to utilize.. I'd rather just hit the road and knock out a podcast each way.

Cool

Dude, Fresno? I was a “Lemoor-on” for 3 years and couldn’t get out of the Central Valley fast enough.
Look north or east, but avoid anything down in the land of valley fever.
Oh, speaking from experience, driving 3-4 hours following a 10-14 hour flight is NOT pleasant at all. YMMV.

Why are you posting if you do not have any revenant to add to OP question? OP wasn’t asking for folks opinion on if he should buy a house or not….

Yeah man ask the Reno commuters how enjoyable commuting by air this winter when roads were snowed out. Keep in mind places like FAT are ground stop central for SFO morning fog. Stick to SAC or up north. Met tons of SAC area guys, but no one as far as Fresno.

Unless a person has family in FAT or is a Yosemite devotee, I wouldn’t recommend it. Plenty of great areas in SAC, good enough areas in Fairfield, Vacaville, etc. Chico is about the same distance as FAT and has less traffic generally (the pass from Tracy to Livermore is hellish in the morning, add in 580 to 92 and 101 from 92 to the airport and even the Berkeley maze looks okay).

but everyone has different needs/desires
