Default Transamerica Long Term Care problems

In 2019, my wife and I purchased a long term care policy with Transamerica through United benefits, they required the policy be paid through payroll deduction which has happened without issues for four years. Yesterday, we got an invoice that shows we owe money, the policy hasn’t been paid since February 16th-and face the risk of a cancelled policy. United has continued to withhold the money. So much fun spending three hours through Help Hub, Payroll, Benefits and Pilot Service Center with not one single entity knowing what the issue is. Transamerica says they have had multiple people call. I wanted to give everyone a heads up if they are in the same boat and trying to figure out what to do next.

I would be careful dealing with a company of the caliber of Transamerica. They are an MLM and most of their policies will be fee laden and looking to line their own pockets over your needs. They are a real insurance company but their rates and policies are not ideal for most. They give their people a two week course and let them loose selling insurance. How did you hear about them through United?

I’m on LTD and am paying Transamerica directly. Hearing of these issues, when i come back, I’ll probably just continue to pay them directly. The hell with payroll deductions to pay this insurance. I don’t feel like have United screw that up too.

Look up the nearest of EBSA Employee Benefits Security Administration, and call them.
I’ve used them in the past for getting answers and filing complaints with my company about pension plan problems and health care issues.

They will open an investigation for you…at least that’s the way it worked 10 years ago.

I would file a dispute on that asap. At least get in the process and help stop any potential timeline issues. I’ve worked on an alpa grievance committee and we spend a ton of time dealing with insurance companies.
