How does premium work at UA? Is it seniority driven? Can reserve pilots pick up on reserve? Does it pay above MMG? Thanks!

right now, reserves don’t get premium pay trips. The only way you can get “premium” is if you sign up to be called by scheduling on a day off, and if you accept (it’s optional), you’ll get 50%. There’s more to it, but that’s a basic description.

The new contract has a bunch of reserve stuff, the final language a lot of people are interested to see.

it’s pretty hard to break guarantee on reserve as the contract currently stands.

for line holders, premium is seniority driven, as long as you put in for it (either direct trip pickup or criteria pickup). The premium portion shows up as add pay.

But

So in 3 years or so there is the chance of only 22% gain in seniority and assuming once that number hits 20,000 the music is then over..
Sounds like it's not the time to join united unless your 25 yrs old

You forget the retirements that are just starting,
a ge 67 if it comes to pass will be a bandaid at all majors.

there’s never been a better time to join any of the big three, but United def has the bigger growth plan.

Yeah but just for finalization.
We assume that united has hired everyone they need for retirements now for the next 10 years

So the only thing left is growth basically ..

Only 22%? That will sound out of this world at some point as it has in the past. Great times.

Dude, wake up, this crazy train isn't going to last. Reality is 22% in 3 years is really good. Do you also think 2.5% mortgages are the norm??

Sounds to me like he made the decision to turn down his UAL offer awhile back in favor of staying at NK. Now he’s just trying to justify his decision to himself.

Nope more like I'm trying to see what place if available is best. Actually with regard to insane hiring it's probably wise to be cautious. To see where you are on the wave. Of course there' was the whole looming aip thing and UA pilots striking which didn't sit well with me either. Not sure what the problem is ...
