United hiring knows this and right around the time new hires with multiple offers started to figure that out followed by the fact United has already hired enough pilots to cover their retirements for the next decade suddenly “rumors” from “TK” claimed 26,000 pilots. I guess they realized nobody believed that number because it was so far fetched they decided 20,000 seems more realistic.

I’ll bet 18,000 pilots by 2030 for each of the big 3. All 3 are hiring 200+ a month. So yeah you missed the train with United, but don’t expect United pilots to tell you that as they want bodies behind them to save themselves from potential furlough.
More senior at delta if hired today?

Surprisingly, they’ve kept their pace of hitting 2,500/pilots per year over the past 2 years. Anyone know what they’re projecting for 2025, same rate of ~200/month?

I believe planning expects to hire to get our seniority list to grow to >25k pilots, and at least for this and next year 2k each.

Really interesting graph. Can I ask for the source? I'd love to see what went into this.

They might want to tell United’s recruiting team. I attended a career fair in the early spring. United’s presentation on future growth and hiring was not even close to >25k pilots. After 2024 hiring will be focused on pilots from their Aviate Academy.

Age 67 will slow hiring a little, but not much.

I would trust ZS/planning over the recruiting team.

that being said I think both numbers are far too optimistic. I think they’re really planning on 25k+ but I don’t think reality will match that.

You would trust someone being more optimistic on hiring projections than a recruiter? Now I’ve read it all 😂😂. I tend to favor a realist mindset so that 25k estimate is beyond difficult to believe.
