Well, what we all suspected would happen is now happening in real time. With far better work rules, pay and general treatment of their pilots, DAL is now hiring 2x we are weekly.
Hopefully Kirby and friends see this and realize United Next is a fart in the wind unless they actually take a new pilot contract seriously.

unless you can prove United isn’t getting pilots to show up to class then you have no story. But nice try.

Last I heard both Delta and United are hiring regional FOs with about 750 hours of 121 time. A year ago, you needed to be a check pilot to even be considered for a call. The minimums are dropping for a reason and it's likely that in the not-too-distant future there'll be unfilled seats in classes for both United and Delta. It takes years to grow a pilot from zero to hero, with the biggest hurdle being the 1,500 hours, and I really don't think there are enough CFI and banner towing jobs out there at unaffiliated small-time commercial operators to feed the demand at the majors. Regionals have been struggling to attract talent for years and I'm beginning to see the same things in motion at the majors. It hits fast.
