This is exactly where I am. Trying to read between the lines.

Maybe this is bluster, maybe it isn't.

Id like to see what monetary amount the union attributes to quality of life items, one email they sent suggested the company over inflated the value since we don’t have historical data on how it would affect the bottom line. We could easily say it’s 8 billion and it turn out to be less in reality

8Bil wouldn't get us close to Delta. Think AA minus a little.

That’s 8Bil according to company costing. So think a 3rd cliff bar on a shelf-stable meal.

Why do you think a deal worth $1 billion more (or 100-500 million more of you don’t trust the CEO’s math) than Delta’s deal wouldn’t get us to Delta’s level?

Kirby also wants a 5 year contract not 4. 8 billion over 5 years is considerably less than 7.2 over 4 years that Delta achieved. Either way, Kirby has been making the media rounds for months saying an ILC is close. We still have 50-60 significant financial items open with the company's last counter proposal significantly below what is being asked for.

You can call it 8BN, 10BN, hell call it 20BN, but if we don’t fix QWL it’s a no vote. The crumbs I’ve heard agreed upon albeit not knowing the details for QWL fixes is lackluster at best. My guns are locked and loaded to shoot down Tumi 2 or is it 3? Unfortunately many are getting starry eyed at the $.

Well if it’s around 9B-10B realistically it should match DL and AA. Obviously each airline has its unique work rules, vacation and sick bank, etc. The reality is SK has no choice but to match DL/AA pay rates so if the package is 9-10B obviously work rules/QOL improvements have been implemented.

So the quoted 8B does actually carry significance because if you assume pay rates will be matched it implies the work rules will be lacking DL/AA. It’s probably accurate to assume prolonged negotiations resulting in being last to a contract is over the extra 1B on open work rules items.

I’m sure SK dreads the idea of presenting a TA to his board that represents the most expensive pay package out of the big 3, but that’s what’s required to match both DL/AA in both pay and work rules.
