Covid MOU terminated, absence monitor on

Respiratory deaths were 90 to 160k even back then. 90k/365= 246 a day. 160k/365= 438 a day.
Old people disproportionately die of respiratory disease. Always has been that way.

If COVID WASN’t getting them, RSV or Influenza would be. Nobody lives forever.

The MOU specifically stated it will be over when “the United States Center for Disease Control declares that COVID-19 is no longer an epidemic in the United States” (emphasis mine).
This should be clear cut and whether or not we’re still in a “public health emergency” should be irrelevant.
also it worries me that we have guidance that specifically says to stay at home if you have covid but now we’re no longer pay protected- will someone get disciplined for showing up to work asymptomatic but positive? What happens to the people who test positive and get international trips dropped due to entry requirements? Etc. as long as we’re not treating this like every other sickness pilots have we should have protections for it.

I’ve also had medical providers test for it before they’ll see me. My last visit for allergies they tested me and I popped positive despite being asymptomatic.

ALPA is expiditing arbitration to fight this.
I can’t believe any of the previous replies above addressed the fact that this is a violation of our agreement. Doesn’t matter what your view on COVID or AMS is, this is a pretty clear violation of the literal interpretation of our MOU.
Looking forward to ALPA fighting this one.

BINGO! The underlined part is the main part of this story and should be a problem for every single pilot on our seniority list.

‘I’ve never been tested for the flu… and I’m not going to get tested for Covid anymore either… if I’m sick won’t come in just like I have for 23+ years.
