Mco willingness to serve
Fellow MCO-based pilots,
I am willing and would gladly serve as your new local council Captain representative. I am currently an LAX-based 737 Captain and am in the process of moving my family from San Diego to Orlando. We just purchased a house in the Solivita community (located halfway between Kissimmee and Winter Haven) and we are moving into our new home in mid-May. I was hired at United in 1998 after serving 12 years in the US Navy as both an E-2C pilot and T-34 instructor. At United I have been a 737 Captain, 757/767 First Officer, A320 First Officer, and 727 flight engineer. While I have never served the pilots as an elected council representative, I have many years as a MEC/LEC committee volunteer. I have served on the Merger Committee since 2010 and prior to that I volunteered as an MEC Contract Hotline representative and also did Grievance Committee work for LAX Council 57.
Without question the biggest issue facing us as a pilot group is our contract negotiations process. As a result, my primary goal would be to help the MEC achieve an industry leading contract for the United pilot group and then help provide a smooth transition for all of the pilots in the new Orlando domicile. Additionally, there are many other duties that come with being an elected council representative such as pilot representation with the local United Flight Operations Leadership and also creating and overseeing the local council committee structure. I firmly believe that my ALPA leadership experience and military leadership experience, provide me the tools to effectively and successfully accomplish these tasks.
Thank you for your consideration.

How did you vote on the recall of the former C57 (LAX) representatives?

If any of the reps saw that those smaller bases, (GUM/CLE/LAS/MCO/TK) all wanted to vote one way and they were the minority, all they would need do is call for a "roll call" vote, and then the votes are tallied based upon the pilots in those bases, so the system accounts for that.
Hopefully we see a TA in the near term that all LECS can vote yes on and this ALPA drama closes for this contract cycle.

No, because ALPA votes (the ones that matter) don't work that way.

As an outsider to the ALPA United MCO Council, I will say-
At least Dan has the guts to not only throw his name into the hat, but also come here and identify himself.

"He's got guts.. and guts is enough~"
Hopefully a few others will also heed the call and stand up to be counted
Thanks Capt. D. Madruga
