It was designed to use the NEO CPDLC so we just looked at slides in the cockpit.

The instructor also has never flown international.
United is kind of dropping the ball. They expect airbus instructors to be able to teach ORCA/Int’l, even though the bus has never had that flying.
If United wanted its pilots to get quality instructing, I personally think they need to bring in an instructor with widebody experience to teach the lesson and have a SIM that can actually do it. They’re shorting the students, and every student who goes through it should leave negative feedback about it until it gets changed

the NEOs will fly the 757 BOS/EWR transcons. The XLR will go to Europe and they will only have to ETOPS one fleet and one base of pilots. The Hawaii flying will be easily absorbed by additional MAXs.

I hope I’m wrong but that’s how I see it going down.
The NEO’s will be delivered with ETOPs certification. Using them on transcons only would expire that cert and it’s expensive to recertify. ORCA won’t happen quickly because there are no PBCF numbers. Island fuel it is, so pacific is the probable plan.

I searched but couldn't find it. There was a link someone posted a month or so back that brought you to a site with all of the pairings at UA... Trying to get an idea of what the trips looks like.

Can someone repost? Thanks.

This Orca??

The ORCA or killer whale (Orcinus orca) is a toothed whale belonging to the oceanic dolphin family, of which it is the largest member.

Not having PBCF numbers will not slow the ORCA flying ramp up. We will just dispatch with a Redispatch point and airport. What will slow the ramp up will be getting the ETOPs proving runs done and folks trans-alt qualed…

Everything must change LCA=LCP, NOTAM= Notice to air missions, ETOP=EROPs = ORCA. I wonder how long before people who identify as Orcas and PETA/Green Peace demand that ORCA be changed due to micro aggressive cultural appropriation, and sea mammal marginalization?

In addition to the term ORCA being a micro-aggression to vegans, we need to change our policy of writing the word “master” on the OFP for class 2 navigation. That requirement is obviously based in colonial systemic racism/oppression. The mention of “retard mode” in the 737 FM has to go too. It’s hard to believe that there are people getting paid good money to make this stuff up, and even harder to expect us to take it seriously.
